  • Accenture recently announced it is buying Australia-based Analytics8. These are the details behind the deal.

Accenture recently announced that it entered an agreement to buy Analytics8 — which is a privately-held Australia based big data and analytics consultancy that specializes in data management, reporting, and visualization, data science and analytics services. Launched in 2002, Analytics8 provides data and analytics solutions to some of Australia’s largest organizations. And Analytics8 enables clients to derive enhanced insights from data using its deep expertise across multiple industries ranging from healthcare to financial services. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Analytics8’s team of 70 professionals in Melbourne and Sydney will be joining Accenture Applied Intelligence — which uses AI-powered data, automation, and analytics to help clients transform their businesses.

“We are excited about joining Accenture. Our data scientists and data analytics expertise will complement Accenture’s applied intelligence capabilities and industry knowledge, allowing us to help customers further leverage data and analytics to transform their businesses,” said Analytics8 co-owner Hedde Schuitemaker.

Why is Accenture buying Analytics8?

Accenture managing director Amit Bansal pointed out that the acquisition will help provide an AI-based approach for helping clients with their data needs.

“In this data-driven age, organizations are increasingly seeking to harness the power of their information for competitive advantage and to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction,” said Accenture managing director Amit Bansal. “Together we will offer a unique, AI-based approach to help clients combine data, analytics and automation at scale.”

This acquisition agreement also demonstrates Accenture’s continued investment in innovation and ongoing commitment to growing its capabilities in digital growth channels. And it follows two other acquisitions that Accenture made in Australia over the last year. Accenture acquired BCT Solutions (cybersecurity company) in June 2019 and PrimeQ (a top Oracle software-as-a-service cloud implementation service provider) in December 2018.

“Having the right talent is a critically important aspect of how we deliver value to clients. The Analytics8 team’s deep technical expertise and experience advising clients across a range of industries will complement our own — bolstering our growing Applied Intelligence business, particularly in the Australian market, and creating new opportunities to help clients accelerate their digital transformations,” added Accenture chief analytics officer and global applied intelligence lead Dr. Athina Kanioura.
