Adobe announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Topaz Labs, an AI company known for video and image enhancement models.

Topaz Labs specializes in professional-quality AI models and tools that improve visual content by sharpening details, removing noise, restoring footage, stabilizing video, increasing resolution, and supporting other enhancement workflows. The company’s technology is used across filmmaking, documentary restoration, social content creation, photography, and archival workflows.

Adobe said the acquisition will expand its creative AI portfolio, which includes Adobe Firefly, Firefly Services, and Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere. The combination is expected to give creators, designers, video professionals, photographers, and enterprises more tools to achieve higher-quality results across different formats and workflows.

The deal comes as AI continues to reshape video and image creation. Adobe said creatives are increasingly working across hybrid workflows that combine traditionally captured footage with AI-generated content, creating demand for tools that can enhance, restore, and refine visuals across different production methods.

Topaz Labs brings a broad set of AI enhancement models designed for video and image workflows. These models can support use cases such as upscaling, sharpening, stabilization, frame interpolation, noise removal, and footage restoration. Adobe said these capabilities are especially important for workflows that combine real-world capture with AI-generated imagery.

Topaz Labs also brings expertise in optimizing large and complex AI models to run directly on devices. Its proprietary Neurostream technology enables advanced AI models to run locally on consumer devices, helping make high-quality image and video enhancement more accessible and cost-effective.

Adobe said this on-device AI capability will help deliver faster and more responsive creative experiences for customers. It also positions Adobe to support growing demand for efficient AI video workflows that do not depend entirely on cloud-based systems or high-end hardware.

After the transaction closes, Adobe plans to integrate Topaz Labs’ AI technology across Adobe Firefly, Firefly Services, and Creative Cloud apps. Topaz Labs’ standalone products will remain available through the company’s website, and customers can expect continued support and future investment.

Topaz Labs CEO Eric Yang will continue to lead the Topaz Labs team after the deal closes. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
