IMS ExpertServices (IMS) — a full-service provider of expert witness search and placement services — announced it has acquired The Focal Point (TFP). The Focal Point provides trial graphics and litigation consultancy services to AM Law 250 clients. IMS’ combination with TFP is going to provide clients with broader and deeper access to the services needed to design and execute winning litigation strategies.

“It is exciting to bring the legacies of these two trusted firms together for the benefit of our clients,” said IMS ExpertServices chief executive officer Bill Wein. “The same depth of care, diligence, and service we have always delivered for our clients will be available across some of the most critical services which are needed during litigation, including jury consulting and trial graphics.”

The partners and executive management team of TFP including Scott Hilton, Chris Ritter, and Jason Barnes are going to remain shareholders and will be active with the business going forward.

“This partnership will strengthen the foundation of service our clients expect and need.” When identifying what sets these two firms apart from other litigation service providers in the market, Hilton observed that both firms, “share a unique ability to execute with urgency and diligence to deliver the context that has earned each of our firms the full confidence of our clients,” added Hilton.

In November 2017, Dallas-based middle-market private equity firm Trinity Hunt acquired a majority interest in IMS. IMS was originally founded in 1992 by Wein (CEO), Vice President Ted Gorder, and Bill’s father, Mike.

And TFP — which is a premier provider of litigation consulting and visual strategy services to the legal community nationwide — is known for utilizing perpetual innovation, strategic thinking, and cutting-edge technology to create a courtroom environment in which arguments are focused and communication is enhanced. From there, TFP develops winning presentations designed for maximum impact on the decision-makers in a court case.

“The combination with TFP represents a compelling opportunity for IMS and marks an important step in the acquisition plans we have collaboratively developed with our management partners. We are excited to expand IMS’ service offerings into trial graphics and litigation consulting, and we look forward to the collective growth opportunities that lie ahead,” explained Trinity Hunt managing partner Pete Stein.
