EDF announced that it has signed an agreement under which KKR has irrevocably undertaken to acquire the operations and assets of EDF power solutions in the United States and Canada.
The proposed transaction covers EDF power solutions Inc. in the United States and EDF power solutions Canada Inc. in Canada. Under the agreement, EDF power solutions has the option to sell these assets to KKR.
EDF said the agreement follows a competitive process. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
EDF power solutions provides clean energy solutions, developing, building, and operating renewable power plants, storage assets, smart EV charging infrastructure, and microgrids. The company delivers solutions across the energy value chain, from origination to commercial operation.
In the United States and Canada, EDF power solutions operates a renewable asset portfolio with a total net capacity of 5.6 GW as of March 31, 2026.
The contemplated transaction remains subject to an information and consultation process with employee representative bodies and approval from the relevant governance bodies.
EDF Group is a major energy transition company and integrated energy operator across power generation, distribution, trading, energy sales, and energy services. The company is a global low-carbon energy provider with a generation mix based primarily on nuclear and renewable energy, including hydropower.
In 2025, EDF generated 515 TWh of output that was 95% decarbonized, with a carbon intensity of 26.5 gCO2/kWh. The company supplies energy and services to about 41 million customers and generated consolidated sales of €113.3 billion in 2025.
