PayPoint announced that it completed the acquisition of AperiData, strengthening the company’s Open Banking capabilities.
The acquisition follows PayPoint’s previous £1 million strategic investment in AperiData. The deal is intended to expand PayPoint’s ability to provide real-time financial assessment tools and Open Banking-powered services to customers.
AperiData is a real-time credit reference agency and Open Banking platform focused on modernizing the consumer credit market. The company uses transaction-level data and advanced financial assessment tools to help organizations better understand a customer’s financial circumstances when making credit, payment, and support decisions.
PayPoint said the acquisition will bolster its Open Banking offering by adding AperiData’s real-time financial assessment capabilities. These capabilities can help organizations gain higher-quality insights into customers’ financial situations when agreeing to payment plans or managing arrears.
PayPoint and AperiData have worked together since 2023. During that time, the companies jointly developed and deployed the Financial Information System Customer Support Tool, an award-winning solution that was recognized as Business Partnership of the Year at the Credit & Collections Industry Awards 2024.
By fully integrating AperiData into the PayPoint Group, PayPoint plans to embed Open Banking capabilities into its existing multichannel payments services. The company said the transaction reflects a shared focus on innovation and financial inclusion, with AperiData’s technology designed to place instant and accurate data at the point of decision.
As part of PayPoint Group, AperiData is expected to continue scaling its solutions and expanding its reach across the UK.
PayPoint is a UK-listed technology, payments, and services company that supports consumer and business transactions across community services, digital payments, rewards, gifting, and merchant payment solutions. Its digital capabilities include multichannel payments, Open Banking, Confirmation of Payee, and API-led platforms.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen PayPoint’s Digital Payments and Open Banking business unit, supporting customers across sectors such as financial services, social housing, local government, utilities, and charities.
