SteriMax announced that it has acquired Andone Pharmaceuticals, a Canadian pharmaceutical and medical device company based in Oakville, Ontario. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition strengthens SteriMax’s position as one of Canada’s largest privately owned pharmaceutical companies and expands its platform into the medical device and veterinary markets.
Andone was founded by Jay Barat with a focus on helping healthcare professionals spend less time managing operational challenges and more time delivering patient care.
The company initially focused on acute care and later expanded into a diversified business serving pharmaceutical, homecare, veterinary, and medical device markets across Canada.
Andone’s three commercial verticals — pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and veterinary — complement SteriMax’s existing injectable portfolio and customer base.
The acquisition also provides SteriMax with established platforms for growth in the veterinary and medical device sectors.
As part of the transaction, Barat will join SteriMax to lead its veterinary and medical device businesses.
SteriMax said the combined business will be better positioned to serve healthcare providers across a broader spectrum of care through expanded portfolios, expertise, and customer relationships.
Bourne Partners served as exclusive financial advisor to SteriMax, and Bloom Burton served as exclusive financial advisor to Andone.
Founded in the late 1990s, SteriMax is a Canadian pharmaceutical company focused on sterile injectables.
The company provides generic, complex, and branded injectables, along with other specialty medicines, to hospital and retail channels.
SteriMax markets more than 50 products across over 100 SKUs through strategic global partnerships and has a pipeline of more than 50 additional products.
The company supplies approximately 40 million doses annually.
