  • Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) announced it acquired OpenBack. These are the details.

Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) announced it has acquired a mobile platform company called OpenBack. Through this acquisition, Twitter should be able to improve its notifications.

“The best push notifications bring people to the conversations they care about on Twitter. But irrelevant notifications are a distraction. With millions of people visiting Twitter via notifications every day, we want them to be timely, relevant and engaging,” said Twitter’s head of consumer product Jay Sullican.

OpenBack’s platform is used by mobile apps to process data on devices rather than on servers. OpenBack’s existing business will be shutdown and the company’s developers will join Twitter’s Bluebird product team.
