White & Case has added debt finance partner Will Stawell to its Sydney office, expanding the firm’s Global Debt Finance Practice and Global Financial Institutions Industry Group as it continues to build out its Australia platform.
Stawell, a debt finance lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience, advises on acquisition and leveraged finance, general corporate finance, private capital, syndicated term loan B facilities, debt trades, payment-in-kind instruments, subordinated instruments, warrants, and matters involving restructuring, insolvency, and distressed situations.
He previously worked at White & Case as an associate in New York from 2013 to 2016, and returns to the firm from King & Wood Mallesons, where he was a partner.
The move follows a string of recent Australia-related additions and promotions for White & Case, including the lateral hires in Sydney of M&A partners Aaron Kenavan and Jamie Palmer from A&O Shearman and intellectual property partner Nick Boyle from Bird & Bird, along with the promotion to partner in Melbourne of project development and finance lawyer Paul Marshall and M&A lawyer Girish Rao.
