Willkie Adds Kruti Trivedi As Litigation Partner In Chicago

Willkie Farr & Gallagher added Kruti Trivedi as a partner in its Litigation Department in Chicago, expanding the firm’s trial, investigations, white-collar, and crisis management capabilities.

Trivedi brings more than 20 years of combined experience in government and in-house legal roles handling complex litigation, investigations, regulatory matters, and high-stakes crises.

She joins Willkie from JPMorganChase & Co., where she led and supervised high-profile and high-risk matters for the global financial institution.

Before JPMorganChase, Trivedi served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.

During her time as a federal prosecutor, she conducted investigations and prosecutions, argued appeals, and tried 10 jury trials involving matters including fraud, bribery, and corruption.

Earlier in her career, Trivedi served as a law clerk to the Honorable David H. Coar.

She earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Princeton University.

Willkie said Trivedi’s combination of senior in-house experience and federal prosecution work gives her perspective on how corporate legal departments and outside counsel can work together on complex and consequential matters.

Her arrival also adds to Willkie’s continued expansion in Chicago.

The firm opened its Chicago office in March 2020 with six partners and has since grown to approximately 140 lawyers.

The office now spans litigation and transactional practices, including trial work, crisis management, intellectual property, antitrust, ERISA, white-collar defense, investigations, governance, privacy, private wealth, private equity, M&A, finance, private funds, capital markets, and restructuring.

“Kruti is a first-rate lawyer whose experience gives her a deep understanding of what clients’ need from outside counsel. Having served as a trusted advisor managing high stakes matters and crises from inside a Fortune 20 company, she knows how corporate legal departments and law firms can best work as one integrated team to provide practical, strategic and responsive advice. Her addition will deepen our ability to serve clients in their most consequential matters, and her background as a former Assistant United States Attorney further strengthens our trial, investigations and white-collar capabilities in Chicago and firmwide.”

Craig C. Martin, Chairman, Americas at Willkie

“Having spent years on the client side, I know how much it matters to have outside counsel who have a deep understanding of not just the law, but also the business and the stakes. I’m excited to offer that perspective to the Firm’s clients as we work together on their toughest, most impactful issues. Moreover, I have been impressed by what Willkie has built in Chicago and by the talent across the Firm. Collaborating with colleagues on this global platform that excels at providing clients precisely what they need from the boardroom to the courtroom is incredibly compelling, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the litigation practice and the Firm.”
