Winnow Acquires Lumitics To Expand Food Waste Technology Across Asia-Pacific

Winnow has acquired Lumitics, a food waste technology company with deployments across more than 20 countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

The acquisition combines Winnow’s global artificial intelligence platform and international customer base with Lumitics’ regional presence, product development capabilities and partner relationships. Winnow expects the combination to strengthen its ability to support hospitality companies across Asia-Pacific.

Winnow develops technology that helps commercial kitchens measure, understand and reduce the food they discard. By collecting data on waste patterns, hospitality operators can identify opportunities to improve purchasing, preparation and menu planning.

Lumitics has established a presence across a broad group of regional markets. Its customers and employees will now join Winnow’s wider platform, increasing the number of kitchens participating in Winnow’s food waste reduction network.

Existing Winnow customers are expected to gain access to larger local teams, expanded service capabilities and additional regional expertise. Winnow also believes the combined customer network will create more opportunities for hospitality operators to exchange best practices and benchmark their progress.

Lumitics customers will continue receiving their existing service during the integration process. Winnow said customer data and established relationships will remain intact as users move through a phased transition to its Winnow VisionAI platform.

The transition will provide Lumitics customers with access to expanded plate waste tracking and additional Winnow capabilities, including its Throw & Go technology. Winnow said the integration will be managed gradually to maintain continuity for participating kitchens.

The acquisition supports Winnow’s broader objective of preventing $1 billion in food waste. The company views Asia-Pacific as a strategically important market because of the region’s large and growing hospitality industry.

Winnow also expects the deal to expand the operational knowledge available across its customer community. A larger data and customer base may help kitchens compare performance, identify recurring waste categories and adopt practices that have worked in similar operations.

Lumitics employees will join Winnow as part of the transaction. Winnow founder Marc Zornes said the companies’ complementary technology, geographic coverage and customer relationships create a stronger platform for addressing food waste across the region.
