Winston Taylor Adds Former DOJ Antitrust Official John Thornburgh As Partner In Chicago

Winston Taylor has added John Thornburgh as a partner in its Antitrust & Competition Practice in Chicago, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in high-stakes antitrust litigation, investigations and merger clearance.

Thornburgh joins from the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, where he served as Assistant Chief of the Chicago Office.

He brings government and private practice experience spanning antitrust litigation, internal investigations and merger reviews in the U.S. and Europe.

At the DOJ, Thornburgh led and managed investigations and litigation involving mergers, Sherman Act Section 1 and Section 2 claims and Clayton Act Section 8 matters.

He played leading roles on trial teams handling merger and monopolization cases and also led the Chicago office’s newly established civil enforcement team focused on antitrust matters in the agriculture sector.

Before joining the DOJ, Thornburgh represented clients in major competition litigation and regulatory matters involving transportation, consumer packaged goods, grocery, communications, software, semiconductors, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
