Winter Street Ventures: $100 Million Fund Unveiled

By Amit Chowdhry ● Sep 12, 2025

Winter Street Ventures Management has launched its first independent investment vehicle, Winter Street Ventures Fund I LP, aiming to raise $100 million to support technology-enabled healthcare companies. This fund marks the firm’s debut following its spin-out as an independent venture capital firm in April 2025. It underscores its commitment to enhancing the patient experience through the use of AI and predictive analytics.

The new fund will target startups that use advanced data tools to streamline care delivery, reduce costs, and enhance outcomes. Winter Street Ventures plans to back businesses developing everything from remote monitoring platforms that predict health deterioration to AI-powered care coordination solutions that personalize treatment for chronic conditions.

Chris Palmieri, founder and general partner of Winter Street Ventures, built the firm in 2016 as the venture arm of Commonwealth Care Alliance. During his decade at CCA, Palmieri led investments in ten healthcare startups that collectively returned more than five times the original capital. Notable successes include a social services provider for diverse low-income populations that generated a 55.1-times return, a fintech-as-a-service platform for healthcare with an unrealized 4.7-times multiple, and a risk-adjustment data management SaaS company that delivered a 2.1-times return.

When CareSource acquired Commonwealth Care Alliance in April 2025, Palmieri purchased the venture team and reestablished it in Boston as an independent firm. Over the summer, he assembled the fund’s operational infrastructure—hiring investment professionals, formalizing governance, and refining the sourcing process—and is now out in the market with Fund I.

With over 30 years of leadership experience across six healthcare companies, several of which achieved revenues above $2 billion, Palmieri brings deep industry knowledge to the fund. He has also chaired the Association of Community Affiliated Plans and served on the board of America’s Health Insurance Plans, both organizations dedicated to improving affordability and quality of care for over 200 million Americans.

The Winter Street Ventures Fund I will be deployed over the next two to three years, partnering closely with founders to accelerate commercialization, scale operations, and navigate regulatory pathways.
