WisdomTree announced the launch of the WisdomTree Efficient Rare Earth Plus Strategic Metals Fund (WDIG), a new exchange-traded fund designed to provide investors with capital-efficient exposure to strategic metals, rare earth elements, and related mining companies.

The fund is listed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange with an expense ratio of 0.55% and expands WisdomTree’s suite of capital-efficient investment strategies.

WDIG combines exposure to commodity metals futures contracts and global mining companies involved in strategic metals and rare earth production. The strategy is designed to provide access to materials increasingly tied to electrification, artificial intelligence infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and geopolitical supply chain dynamics.

According to WisdomTree, the fund delivers approximately 90% exposure to a basket of mining equities alongside approximately 90% notional exposure to commodity metals futures contracts, creating a dual-exposure structure that combines company performance with commodity price movements.

The strategy focuses on metals including aluminum, cobalt, copper, lead, lithium, nickel, platinum, silver, tin, zinc, and rare earth elements.

WisdomTree said the actively managed strategy uses a proprietary model-driven allocation process rather than tracking a traditional index. The fund also invests across both developed and emerging market mining companies operating within strategic metals supply chains.

The company highlighted growing demand for critical minerals driven by technologies such as electric vehicles, wind turbines, AI data centers, and autonomous systems, while also noting the strategic importance of concentrated global supply chains for many of these materials.

WisdomTree currently manages approximately $161.3 billion in assets globally, including assets managed through its Ceres Partners farmland platform acquisition.

KEY QUOTES:

“From electric vehicles and wind turbines to AI data centers and autonomous systems, many of the technologies shaping the future share a common foundation in strategic metals.”

“At the same time, supply chains for many critical minerals remain highly concentrated, elevating their importance from commodities to strategic assets for governments and industries alike.”

“WDIG reflects this convergence of rising demand and evolving supply dynamics, offering a way to access both the metals themselves and the companies producing them.”

“By combining commodities exposure with mining equities in a single, capital-efficient structure, the strategy is designed to provide investors with diversified access to a theme that we believe is becoming increasingly central to the next phase of the global economy.”
