Wistron Opens $700 Million Fort Worth Plant To Produce NVIDIA AI Systems

Wistron has opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, to produce advanced NVIDIA artificial intelligence systems. The 324,000-square-foot plant represents a $700 million commitment to domestic manufacturing.

The facility, known as D1, has created more than 500 jobs. Wistron plans to increase employment at the site to approximately 1,000 workers by the end of 2026.

D1 currently operates two manufacturing cells. One is producing the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, while the second is being prepared to manufacture the upcoming NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip.

Wistron expects the plant to scale production during 2026 to tens of thousands of boards each month. The facility will help expand U.S. capacity for assembling and testing the computing systems used to train and operate large AI models.

The project supports NVIDIA’s broader commitment to manufacture as much as $500 billion of advanced AI infrastructure in the United States. NVIDIA said domestic production can strengthen supply chains while creating jobs across construction, manufacturing, electrical work and other skilled trades.

Wistron designed and simulated the Fort Worth facility in a digital twin before beginning physical construction. The virtual environment used NVIDIA technologies including Nemotron and Cosmos models, Omniverse and Metropolis libraries, and the PhysicsNeMo framework.

The digital twin allowed engineers to test assembly-line configurations, evaluate production processes and train employees on operating procedures before equipment was activated in the physical plant. This approach was intended to reduce implementation risks and improve factory efficiency.

NVIDIA describes the systems produced at D1 as part of a new generation of AI factories. These data center-scale platforms combine processors, networking equipment and supporting infrastructure to generate the computational output used by AI applications.

The opening ceremony included the presentation of the first GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced at the facility. NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang signed the system during the event.

According to Huang, a complete GB300-based system contains approximately 1.5 million components, weighs about two tons and costs around $4 million. Wistron intends to manufacture these systems at high volume to support global demand for AI infrastructure.
