Wolfspeed, a global leader in silicon carbide technology, has announced two executive appointments as the company accelerates global expansion and deepens engagement with policymakers, customers, and investors. Brad Kohn will rejoin the company as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Global Affairs Officer, effective May 11, 2026, while Sonja Burfeind has been appointed Vice President, Communications, effective July 1, 2026.
Kohn brings more than 20 years of experience as a general counsel across multiple public companies, including prior service at Wolfspeed, Martin Marietta Materials and MEMC Electronic Materials, now part of GlobalWafers. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s global legal, compliance, government affairs and public policy engagement functions — responsibilities that carry particular significance as Wolfspeed navigates complex regulatory environments across the markets in which it operates and seeks to expand its influence with policymakers around the world.
Burfeind brings more than two decades of experience building brand reputation across technology, automotive, consumer and media industries. Most recently, she held senior communications leadership roles at Infineon, where she played a key role in translating advanced semiconductor technologies into compelling narratives that enhanced corporate visibility across global media networks. At Wolfspeed, she will lead the company’s global communications strategy, unifying internal and external messaging including public relations and sales and marketing communications.
The appointments come as Wolfspeed pursues a long-term growth strategy centered on silicon carbide technology, which is central to energy-efficient applications across electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure and industrial power systems. The additions of Kohn and Burfeind are intended to strengthen the company’s ability to communicate its value proposition to customers, shareholders and policymakers as it expands its global footprint.
