Wonder has acquired Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, taking full ownership of the New York City-based fast-casual concept from Blue Ribbon Restaurants as it continues building a portfolio of restaurant brands designed to scale across its broader mealtime platform.
The deal gives Wonder control of the Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken brand and includes the concept’s physical restaurant in Manhattan along with its current employees. Wonder said the East Village location will keep operating as usual, with no planned changes to day-to-day operations, and will remain available through third-party delivery platforms.
Wonder positioned the acquisition as part of a wider strategy to own and steward restaurant brands that fit its goal of making chef-driven food more accessible. The company said Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken’s fine-dining roots and popularity with both locals and tourists align with Wonder’s approach to bringing established concepts to more diners through its platform.
Looking ahead, Wonder said it plans to scale Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken over time, including introducing the concept at a Wonder location in New York City in 2026, followed by expansion to additional locations. The brand would join other concepts available through Wonder, with customers able to mix and match items from multiple restaurants in a single order.
Wonder describes itself as a mealtime platform spanning delivery, pickup, dine-in, meal kits, and chef-driven food innovation. The company said its broader portfolio includes brands and assets across food, delivery, and media, including Blue Apron, Grubhub, Relay, Tastemade, Spyce, and Claim.
Blue Ribbon Restaurants, founded by chefs and brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg, said it built Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken as a dedicated concept inspired by a signature menu item, and that the brand’s next phase will be supported by Wonder’s platform and reach.
