Woodward Sports announced that co-founder Joey Namou has acquired a majority stake in the company in a seven-figure transaction and has been named Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone for Detroit’s leading digital sports media platform.

Since its launch in 2020, Woodward Sports has grown into a premier destination for sports content, reaching more than 700,000 followers and generating millions of monthly views across its video, social, and podcast platforms. Built on a highly engaged, predominantly Detroit-based audience, the network has steadily expanded its footprint across the region’s sports and culture landscape. With the ownership transition now complete, the company is focused on accelerating growth, broadening its content offerings, and deepening its connection to the local community.

Namou, widely known as “Joey Radio,” brings nearly 15 years of experience in Detroit media. A graduate of Brother Rice High School and alumnus of Oakland University, he originally pursued a career in accounting before earning an internship with iHeartRadio’s Mojo in the Morning on Channel 955. That opportunity helped launch his career in media, marketing, and entrepreneurship, ultimately leading to the co-founding of Woodward Sports in 2020. Beyond media, Namou has remained active in community initiatives, including his role as an ambassador for Wish Upon a Teen, which supports teens facing life-threatening illnesses.

As part of its continued growth, Woodward Sports has relocated its headquarters to a new, nearly 3,500-square-foot studio in downtown Royal Oak at 108 S. Main Street. The expanded space is designed to support increased live programming, content production, and brand partnerships. Woodward Sports currently produces four daily live shows, delivering more than eight hours of live, local programming each day, with plans to expand its lineup with new shows, additional Detroit personalities, and content that extends beyond sports into broader cultural and community storytelling.
