WorkHero, an AI-based back office platform designed for small HVAC contractors, announced it has raised a $5 million seed round led by Navitas Capital, with participation from Workshop Ventures, York IE, and several strategic angel investors, including a former ServiceTitan executive.
The funding will enable WorkHero to expand its product offerings, strengthen its engineering team, and introduce new services such as call answering and bookkeeping as part of its mission to simplify business operations for small, independent contractors.
WorkHero’s platform uses AI agents to autonomously perform time-consuming administrative tasks such as invoicing, permit filing, rebate submissions, warranty registrations, and pricebook management—all without requiring business owners to log in or manually execute workflows. Dedicated account managers with HVAC expertise oversee these AI systems to ensure accuracy and provide personalized coaching on business operations and financial health.
The company’s approach directly targets a widespread problem in the HVAC industry: administrative overload. According to a joint survey by WorkHero and HVAC School, small HVAC business owners spend over 20 hours each week on administrative tasks. The issue is magnified in a highly fragmented market where 85% of HVAC companies employ fewer than 20 people, and many lack the resources to hire full-time office managers.
By combining human expertise with automation, WorkHero allows small business owners to reclaim time and focus on growth and service delivery. The company’s technology is already being deployed in states such as Colorado, Oregon, and New York, where it streamlines the complex process of submitting heat pump rebate applications—cutting processing times by 50% while achieving near-perfect approval rates from state program administrators.
