Worldmodeldata announced that it has emerged from stealth and raised £7 million, or about $9.3 million, in seed funding. The company said the capital will accelerate its mission of transforming gameplay into training-ready datasets for world models and embodied AI.

Worldmodeldata is building what it describes as the data layer for world models. The company is focused on converting gameplay data into datasets that can support the development of AI systems capable of understanding and interacting with complex environments.

The funding round was led by Iona Star. Worldmodeldata also thanked its board members Richard Allan, Dirk van Daele, Kevin Gage, and Gerry Buggy for their support.

The company also named Yann LeCun as a senior advisor. Worldmodeldata said it has received support from partners, researchers, and others who have shared expertise and belief in the company’s vision.

The launch comes as interest grows in world models and embodied AI. These systems require large-scale, high-quality training data that can help AI understand physical environments, decision-making, movement, and cause-and-effect relationships.

By using gameplay as a source of training-ready datasets, Worldmodeldata is targeting a major bottleneck in AI development. The company’s approach could support researchers and developers building systems for robotics, simulation, gaming, autonomous agents, and other embodied AI applications.

Worldmodeldata said the announcement marks a major milestone for the company. The company added that this is just the beginning as it continues building its platform.
