The Wyckoff Family has acquired Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, returning Washington’s largest and most influential wine company to private Washington ownership for the first time in more than fifty years. The acquisition includes all wine brands, facilities, and vineyards associated with Ste. Michelle across the state.
The Wyckoff Family, a third-generation agribusiness owner in Eastern Washington, has been a longstanding partner to Ste. Michelle has been with us since the early nineteen-eighties. The family’s portfolio spans premium wine grapes, custom wine production, and a range of agriculture businesses across Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. They also operate Coventry Vale Winery, one of Washington’s largest custom wine producers, with vineyards across several leading American Viticultural Areas, including the Wahluke Slope, Yakima Valley, and Horse Heaven Hills.
Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, founded in its earliest form in nineteen thirty three and recognized as Washington’s first premium wine company, remains one of the most acclaimed producers of premium wines in the United States. Its wines are distributed nationwide and in one hundred countries.
The company’s portfolio includes Chateau Ste. Michelle, Fourteen Hands, Columbia Crest, Liquid Light, Estival, Ethos, Spring Valley Vineyard, and Northstar, and it also serves as the sales agent for A to Z Wineworks, Erath, and Rex Hill in Oregon.
Leadership from both organizations emphasized continuity, long-term investment in winemaking quality, and a strengthened commitment to Washington’s grape-growing community. The acquisition marks a significant shift in the Pacific Northwest wine landscape and signals a renewed focus on regional family ownership within the industry.
