XBuild, an AI estimating platform built for construction contractors, has raised $19 million in a Series A round led by N47, with participation from Rackhouse Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. The company said it will use the new capital to expand beyond roofing into additional construction estimating categories, including concrete, landscaping, painting, windows and doors, glass and glazing, insulation, HVAC, and plumbing.
The company also launched Roofing Proposals, a new product aimed at residential roofing contractors that can generate a finished estimate in under 15 minutes. XBuild positions the product as a replacement for legacy template-driven estimating tools, using an AI-native workflow trained on common contractor inputs such as measurement reports and site photos to produce standardized, editable proposals without demos or onboarding.
XBuild said that in its first year—following the launch of an insurance-focused estimating point solution—more than 15,000 projects were run to completion representing $250 million in construction project value, and contractors saved more than 40,000 hours creating estimates.
Roofing Proposals is designed to address several common issues in roofing sales and operations, including pricing accuracy, measurement-report variability, and homeowner trust. The product is integrated with major material suppliers such as ABC Supply to provide real-time supplier pricing, which XBuild said helps contractors set clearer profit margins and improve cost accuracy. The platform can also ingest and reference PDF measurement reports from providers including EagleView, GAF QuickScope, Hover, and Roofr, while also supporting manual photo inputs, including from CompanyCam, to generate proposals quickly.
For customer-facing transparency and faster close cycles, the product generates a homeowner link that includes Good/Better/Best pricing options, as well as e-signature capability and Stripe Connect payments intended to improve cash flow.
XBuild was founded by former Uber and Postmates executives Jahan Khanna and Rob Moran, along with civil engineer Sharuk Khanna. The company says its approach combines construction-domain expertise with Silicon Valley product and engineering experience to deliver contractor-ready automation for estimating and proposals.
KEY QUOTES:
“Construction and the cost of building is the last space that truly has not been disrupted by technology in the way most of the rest of the world has… It is the final frontier, and in order to deal with the cost of living crisis all of us face today, it must become cheaper, faster, and easier to build things in the physical world. XBuild and the coming AI revolution will be a catalyst to that end, and to a brighter future.”
Jahan Khanna, Co-Founder, XBuild
“Estimating and proposal generation remain major bottlenecks for contractors, yet legacy tools haven’t kept pace with AI capabilities or the realities of how the industry works today. XBuild leverages deep industry expertise to deliver compelling automation and efficiency gains in construction, representing a cutting-edge application of AI to real-world problems.”
