YouTube announced an expanded partnership with NBCUniversal across YouTube and YouTube TV, under which eligible YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. will soon gain access to ad-supported Peacock Premium in addition to existing YouTube Premium features such as ad-free viewing, background play, downloads, and YouTube Music.
The expanded deal will give subscribers access to Peacock’s lineup of live sports, movies, and original series, including the NFL, NBA, Saturday Night Live, Love Island USA, and Law & Order: SVU. YouTube also plans to introduce international bundles and options allowing subscribers to upgrade their Peacock membership. As part of the agreement, a selection of live sporting events from NBCUniversal will stream on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. YouTube said it will share more details and official launch dates with subscribers in the coming months.
The partnership marks a significant expansion of the relationship between the two companies, bringing together YouTube’s massive subscriber base with NBCUniversal’s extensive library of live sports rights and original programming under a single subscription umbrella. For YouTube Premium subscribers, the addition of Peacock Premium content provides access to a broader mix of entertainment options without requiring a separate subscription, potentially strengthening YouTube Premium’s overall value proposition relative to other streaming bundles in the market.
The deal also reflects a broader industry trend toward content bundling, as media and technology companies increasingly look to combine complementary offerings to reduce subscriber churn and simplify the growing complexity of the streaming landscape for consumers. By integrating Peacock’s live sports and entertainment content directly into the YouTube ecosystem, the companies appear to be positioning the partnership as a way to make premium content more accessible while also extending NBCUniversal’s reach to YouTube’s substantial audience. The introduction of international bundles suggests the companies may be looking to expand this model beyond the U.S. market over time as well.
