Zimmer Biomet: $1 Billion Buyback Target Expands As Next-Generation ROSA Shoulder Begins First Procedures

Zimmer Biomet increased its fiscal 2026 share repurchase expectations to as much as $1 billion as the MedTech company begins the commercial rollout of its next-generation ROSA Shoulder robotic system.

ROSA Shoulder received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance, and Zimmer Biomet has completed the first procedures using the system. The company described it as the industry’s first robotic shoulder platform supporting both glenoid and humeral bone preparation for anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement techniques.

The launch adds another major application to Zimmer Biomet’s ROSA robotic surgery platform as the company seeks to drive growth through its innovation pipeline and broader commercial transformation.

Zimmer Biomet simultaneously increased expected share repurchases to as much as $1 billion during fiscal 2026. The company had already repurchased approximately $500.8 million of common stock during the first six months of the year, more than double the $237 million repurchased during the year-earlier period.

Q2 net sales increased 4.8% to $2.177 billion, or 4.7% on a constant-currency basis and 4% organically. Net earnings increased to $198.3 million, while diluted EPS increased 33.8% to $1.03. Adjusted diluted EPS was unchanged at $2.07.

Zimmer Biomet generated $447.9 million of operating cash flow and $308.3 million of free cash flow during the quarter. Following a strong first half and continued momentum from its innovation cycle, the company raised its full-year revenue and adjusted EPS guidance.
