Zoetis: $160 Million Acquisition Of Animal Genomics Business To Advance Precision Animal Health

Zoetis announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the animal genomics business of Neogen Corporation for $160 million, subject to customary closing adjustments. The transaction is designed to strengthen Zoetis’ leadership in Precision Animal Health and accelerate innovation in livestock genomics.

The acquisition aligns with Zoetis’ strategy to drive future livestock innovation through genomics and expand its Precision Animal Health portfolio. By integrating Neogen’s genomic technologies and data solutions, Zoetis aims to enhance its ability to deliver predictive insights, individualized care, and greater value to customers across major livestock and companion animal species.

Neogen’s genomics business serves customers in more than 120 countries and operates five laboratories across the United States, Brazil, Australia, China and the United Kingdom, along with an office in Canada. The unit utilizes a comprehensive genotyping platform that includes fixed array and sequencing technologies, supported by software solutions that enable data-driven decision-making. It holds a leadership position in U.S. beef and dairy genomics, providing scalable genetic testing and advanced insights into animal health, productivity and sustainability.

Zoetis expects the transaction to close in the second half of calendar year 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The company said it is committed to a seamless integration process to ensure continuity for employees and customers while building on Neogen’s established genomics capabilities.
