Clickfox Raises $17.9 Million Led By Morgan Stanley

Clickfox is a multi-channel metrics provider that started out as a web analytics company in 2000. Clickfox raised about $17.9 million in a round of funding led by Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners. Clickfox is profitable and plans to spend the funding on expanding their sales and marketing force. Clickfox tracks how customers engage with brands through websites, kiosks, chatting applications, mobile applications, etc. The last time that ClickFox raised funding was in June 2008 when they brought in $12.5 million. Nintendo Sold 1.5 Million Wii and DS Systems During Black Friday Week

Nintendo has sold 1.5 million Wii and DS video game systems during Black Friday week. Of this number, about 600,000 Wii consoles were sold and 900,000 DS units were sold between November 21st and the 27th. The Wii bundle costs $199 with a Wii Remote Plus and 2 games. The DSi XL sold with 3 games for $179. The DSi with only one game sold for $149. Nintendo of America president said that the Nintendo sold around 9,000 systems every hour during Thanksgiving week. Winamp Android App Has Wireless Syncing

The Winamp Android application is no longer in beta. The application launched about a month ago and saw over 500,000 downloads. Some of the features in the Winamp Android application includes wireless syncing through WiFi with your desktop Winamp application. The Winamp Android application also has Shoutcast radio stations.

Patricia McIlvaine Being Sued By Fox For $12 Million For Website That Aggregates Movie Scripts

Patricia McIlvaine is being sued by Twentieth Century Fox for creating a free online library of Hollywood movie scripts to help other screenwriters find examples of what a successful movie script looks like. According to TorrentFreak.com Twentieth Century Fox did not send P.J. McIlvaine a notice about her supposed wrong-doing either. They just sent private investigators to her house, gathered information, and sent her a $12 million lawsuit. Fox is seeking damages and injunctive relief for copyright infringement and contributory copyright infringement.

Voltaire Bought For $218 Million By Mellanox

Mellanox Technologies announced earlier this week that they have acquired Voltaire for $218 million. Voltaire and Mellanox are both networking vendor companies so it appears that this is a horizontal acquisition. The deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2011 and is subject to shareholder approval. Voltaire and Mellanox are both known for selling Ethernet-based products. [PCWorld]
Government Cables Uploaded To WikiLeaks Was Stolen Through A Burned Lady Gaga CD

How did an American soldier walk around with classified documents in his pocket without getting caught? The answer is a Lady Gaga CD. Twenty two year old soldier Bradley Manning copied over 200,000 documents from the defense department on the Siprnet network. Manning was working at an army base near Baghdad when he would come in with a CD-RW with label such as “Lady Gaga.” He then erased the music and then wrote a compressed split file. “[I] listened and lip-synched to Lady Gaga’s Telephone while exfiltrating possibly the largest data spillage in American history,” said Manning in an interview with The Guardian.

Wayne State Spin-Off RetroSense Researching How Pond Algae Can Help The Blind See Again

RetroSense Therapeutics is a biotechnology company that is a spinoff of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. RetroSense opened an office in Ann Arbor, Michigan (not too far from our office) and is founded by Sean Ainsworth. Ainsworth is out to prove that a gene in blue-green pond algae can help the blind see again. Pond algae has photosensitive cells that can detect where the sun is shining on a pond and it moves in that direction in order to convert the light into energy. The photosensitivity of those cells are based on a gene called channelrhodopsin-2 (Chop2).

Yammer Raises $25 Million In Funding

Yammer, the micro-blogging service for enterprises, has raised $25 million in funding. The funding was led by U.S. Venture Partners. Emergence Capital, Charles River Ventures, and the Founders Fund had participated in this round. Yammer’s total funding is at $40 million. U.S. Ventures’ Mamoon Hamid will join the Yammer board of directors.

Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes has been busy since helping build the foundation of the world’s largest social network. After co-founding Facebook with Mark, Dustin, and Eduardo he ran President Barack Obama’s social media campaign. His latest innovation is Jumo, a social network for charities. Jumo launched in Beta today. Jumo has profiles of specific charities that you and your friends can follow.
