Oracle Acquires Call Center Software Company InQuira

Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) has acquired call center software company InQuira. Call centers use InQuira software to help their call center agents provide customer service. InQuira customers include 3M, Sprint Nextel, Yahoo!, and Bayer. This is Oracle’s way of effectively competing against Salesforce.com in the call center space. [Reuters]
Google Launches Page Speed Service For Businesses

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched a new service for businesses called Page Speed Service. When you sign up for the service, point your DNS entry to Google. Then they will enable a tool to fetch your content from your servers, rewrite your webpages, and serve them from their own servers.

Zuckerberg FTW! Paul Ceglia’s Lawyers Are Dropping Left and Right.

As a refresher, Paul Ceglia is a man in New York that is claiming to own at least 50% of Facebook. Ceglia claims that he hired Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for some freelance work several years ago through a Craigslist post.

Dropbox Leasing A New 87,000 Sq. Ft. Office

Dropbox is a cloud storage company that makes it easy to sync your files between your computer, phone, tablet, etc. The company is ramping up at a rapid pace. They are about to hire hundreds of more people and they are getting an office that is 8 times the size of their current space.

NASA To Crash International Space Station Harmlessly Into Pacific Ocean In 2020

The United States, Russia, and their partners have decided that they will allow the International Space Station (ISS) to sink into the Pacific ocean at the end of it’s life cycle after 2020 since it would be considered junk at that point.

Facebook Is Building A Second Data Center In Oregon

Facebook is building another major data center at their campus in Prineville, Oregon. Facebook will begin the construction in October. The facility will resemble the 300,000 square foot data center. The announcement was made by Facebook Data Center Manager Ken Patchett at the Prineville City Council meeting earlier this week.

Android is Top Smartphone OS but Apple is Top Manufacturer

New data from Nielsen shows that Android rules the OS market with 39% of the smartphone market, but that Apple is currently the #1 smartphone manufacturer, selling 28% of the devices. Struggling RIM’s BlackBerry OS only accounts for 20% of the market, and Windows Mobile comes in at a paltry 9%. [Nielsen]
Verizon Wireless Announces 4G LTE-Enable HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr

Verizon Wireless revealed a new laptop earlier this week. The new laptop is called the HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr and it features an embedded 4G LTE modem for high speed connection. The dm1-3010nr is 1.2 inches thick. Specs include an 11.6-inch 1366×768 pixel LED display, 1.6GHz dual-core AMD processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB hard drive, VGA webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The laptop went for sale yesterday with a price of $599.99. Below is the press release and data plans are as follows:
- $50 per month for 5GB
- $80 per month for 10GB
