China-based ride-sharing Didi Chuxing company has raised over $500 million in funding for its autonomous driving operations in a round of funding led by SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2, according to CNBC.

With this round of funding, Didi Chuxing said that the autonomous driving division of the company will continue funding research and development along with accelerating the launch of driverless vehicle services within China and beyond. In Shanghai, Didi Chuxing is planning launch a robo-taxi service soon.

“Didi also plans to further deepen cooperation with global upstream and downstream auto industry partners towards mass production of autonomous driving vehicles, with the aim of advancing the transformation of the global automotive and transportation industries,” added Didi Chuxing in a statement.

Currently, Didi Chuxing has licenses for testing self-driving cars on the roads in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou along with California.
