Gocious is a Product Roadmap Management (PRM) software company that was designed to help product managers communicate and align all stakeholders around a clear and accessible product portfolio plan. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Gocious co-founder and CTO Maziar Adl to learn more about the company.
Maziar Adl’s Background
Before Gocious, Adl served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for UK & Ireland Consumer Services at Experian. And Adl said:
“I was part of a team that spearheaded one of the company’s most significant transformations, fostering innovation in new markets and expediting product development. Prior to my role at Experian, I worked as a consultant at KPMG, where my focus was on e-commerce and internet-based solutions for Fortune 500 organizations in the manufacturing, high-tech, and retail sectors.”
Formation Of Gocious
How did the idea for Gocious come together? Adl shared:
“I always wanted to support the world’s top product managers who strive to push the boundaries and lead groundbreaking initiatives. I wanted to rally a large team to develop the next generation of products and give product managers the tools needed to approach their vision boldly and identify customer needs. I wanted to start a company that helped shine a spotlight on these talented individuals and give them the necessary tools to succeed.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for Gocious so far? Adl reflected:
“Our first enterprise customer played a pivotal role by offering us highly positive feedback. They expressed how Gocious positively impacted their business. They unified engineers, finance, and other teams on a single platform and streamlined operations with our turnkey solution. They told us their teams were able to collaborate on developing the next generation of products as one unit, making us all very proud.”
Challenges Faced
What challenges have you faced in building Gocious? Adl acknowledged:
“Running a business demands a tremendous amount of effort! Managing people and attracting consumers taught me right away the level of dedication required to turn your ideas into a reality. What keeps me motivated daily is the understanding that product teams worldwide are seeking simplicity and solutions to streamline their work. Pushing the boundaries of what my team and I can achieve is an ongoing challenge that continually inspires and drives us.”
Core Products
What are Gocious’ core products and features? Adl explained:
“Throughout my career, I’ve observed that creating product roadmaps can be a difficult undertaking for product management teams. We created the Gocious Product Roadmap Management (PRM) solution to assist product managers in communicating with and aligning all stakeholders around a clear and accessible product portfolio roadmap. Product managers can coordinate cross-functional teams ranging from engineering to sales, marketing, and finance around a product strategy. Product managers can use our PRM solution to capture and prioritize client demands, define products and shared components to address business objectives.”
Evolution Of Gocious’s Technology
How has Gocious’ technology evolved since launching? Adl noted:
“Our goal is to create a product portfolio roadmap management software that is all-in-one. In a unified digital experience for the entire organization, we want to provide everything a firm needs to drive its product roadmap. Gocious is a platform for driving the what and why for the entire product portfolio. Not just the how. We want product teams using today’s technology to make quick decisions, reach out to a large audience to exchange ideas, bring alignment, and communicate the product mix that best fits market and business needs.”
Customer Success Stories
After asking Adl about Gocious’ customer success stories, he cited:
“One of our clients, a cash management solution, wanted to better scale its business and was looking for an on-ramp towards more agile production processes. When they started working with us, they relayed how they broke down previously existing data silos and hurdles to their tech infrastructure and expedited processes previously done manually. By shifting over to Gocious and leveraging cloud-based product management software, they reported that they were saving time and becoming more unified as a team.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Adl affirmed:
“Current market systems, such as CRM, ERP, PLM, and CPQ, all provide excellent mechanisms for planning and regulating the product and customer lifecycle; nevertheless, they all presume that the product concept is already understood. Before you can use these systems, it’s necessary to do business research and communicate the product plan. High-level product and feature planning takes place primarily in isolated systems like spreadsheets, emails, and presentation tools that are not standard and require a significant amount of effort to align the organization around a single approach. There is no single source of truth for product teams to drive business product portfolio strategy. What we’re creating at Gocious are tools for product teams that foster communication and shared business objectives.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future company goals? Adl concluded:
“I want to help the world’s best product managers push the envelope with their groundbreaking ideas. I fully believe that product managers have the experience and instincts to approach their vision boldly, uncover customer needs, and create some of the greatest breakthroughs that will reshape our society. I want Gocious to be a leader in giving remarkable people all the resources they need to thrive.”
