Hygraph is a federated content platform that allows the true composability of your stack. You can integrate all your services with the company’s unique content federation approach and distribute content from anywhere to anywhere using a single, powerful GraphQL API. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Hygraph CEO and co-founder Michael Lukaszczyk to learn more.
Formation Of Hygraph
How did the idea for the company come together? Lukaszczyk said:
“The idea for the company came together during the emergence of the headless CMS offering which allowed for platform-independent content distribution via APIs. We realized that enterprises were no longer building monolithic systems and were applying a modular approach instead that featured multiple systems and data sets. But the challenge for enterprises was connecting these sources to drive the new application or customer experience, as a headless CMS required custom middleware and created an innovation bottleneck.”
“While there were a few players in the market already, we saw an opportunity to introduce a federated content approach. This is the next generation of content management, powering a many-to-many relationship between content sources and devices and replacing tedious middleware development.”
Evolution Of Hygraph’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Lukaszczyk noted:
“We are continuing to refine our federated content approach. This not only allows us to distribute content to any device but also source content and data from any other systems that serve an API. This helps companies build scalable digital products that rely on data from multiple sources and assists with fast, cost-efficient innovation.”
Funding/Revenue
Upon asking Lukaszczyk about funding and revenue, he revealed:
“We’ve recently completed a successful Series B funding round led by European investor One Peak. The funding is being used to continue the platform development, as we now work with around 400 global customers.”
Core Products
What are Hygraph’s core products and features? Lukaszczyk explained:
“Hygraph recognizes that organizations today not only need to serve content on multiple devices, they need to be able to serve the content that lives within their software stack. As such, Hygraph is focused on providing products and features that drive the future of content management.”
“With Hygraph, organizations can federate their content sources into a single universal content API, meaning developers that build web or mobile experiences only have to develop with one API to serve content from very diversified back-end systems. By combining composability with a federated content approach, enterprises can future-proof their CMS investment and significantly reduce their integration costs.”
“Recently, we announced a major update to the platform with the introduction of top-level remote fields, which brings the federated content vision to life. The new capability empowers enterprises to unify their content across multiple environments and systems. It lets them fetch data from any of their dispersed systems, such as e-commerce, digital, and CRM, from Hygraph’s content API, using just one query – representing a powerful next step for enterprises to dramatically streamline and modernize content connections and drive the next-generation of customer experiences.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the Hygraph’s future company goals? Lukaszczyk concluded:
“We’ll continue to innovate with our content federation approach – providing cutting-edge content experiences for enterprises. In addition, we plan to boost our presence in North America, as well as collaborate with more partners across the globe. Our main vision for the company’s future is to continue to be at the forefront of the next generation of content management.”
