The iPhone 11 is expected to be released in September and a number of rumors about the upcoming line of devices have been surfacing for months. At the WWDC conference, Apple unveiled the iPadOS features along with the new iOS 13 features — which will also ship at the same time as the new iPhones. If you are curious about what the iPhone 11 features are, this article is a roundup of the most important iPhone 11 rumors and leaks that you should know about:

Later this year, Apple is expected to launch three models of the iPhone 11. Rumor has it that Apple will call these devices iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R. Or Apple may use the devices iPhone XS2, iPhone XS2 Max, and iPhone XR2.

iPhone 11 Design

According to leaked images of the iPhone 11, the same notch is expected to be on the front of the devices. Apple supplier AMS reported developed a new optical sensor that can measure ambient light behind an OLED screen so the notch could be smaller.

The back of the iPhones may have a frosted glass back — which would improve indoor navigation tools.

And the three cameras (more on that below) may be housed in a central block on the back or still be on the top left side on the rear of the device next to the power button.

The main iPhone 11 devices may have a 5.8-inch screen and it would measure at 143.9 x 71.4 x 7.8mm. As a comparison, the iPhone XS measures at 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7mm.

iPhone 11 Processor

The Apple iPhone 11 will feature Apple’s proprietary A13 chipset. Generally, Apple ensures that its flagship smartphones feature its latest chipset every year so this rumor seems very likely.

iPhone 11 Camera

The iPhone 11 camera is expected to have a three-camera array on the back of the device. This set up would ensure higher photo and video quality. And the three camera array also facilitates a better augmented reality experience.

The three-camera array would include a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens along with the 12-megapixel main and telephoto lenses that the iPhone XS range of devices have. The third lens is not expected to have optical image stabilization (OIS). But the other two lenses will have OIS.

Steve H. McFly also posted some leaked schematics from supply chain sources showing that there will be a three-camera array:

It’s worth mentioning that the three camera array may just be applied to the larger-sized iPhone 11 Max variant of the devices. The iPhone 11R and the main iPhone 11 device may not have the three camera array.

The iPhone 11R and main iPhone 11 variants may have dual-lens cameras instead. The lower-cost iPhone 11R (iPhone Xr 2) having a dual camera array compared to the iPhone XS is good news since its predecessor has a single camera.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that one of the lenses may be nearly invisible. And Kuo also suggested that the front-facing FaceTime camera may be upgraded from 7-megapixel to 12-megapixel.

But CompareRaja is speculating that the front camera will be 10-megapixel and the rear cameras will be 14-megapixel and 10-megapixel lenses.

iPhone 11 Battery Life

The iPhone 11 is also expected to have better battery life. And the iPhone 11 may also support a reverse wireless charging feature, which you may have seen on Samsung and Huawei’s latest devices. Apple’s reverse wireless charging feature may allow you to increase the battery life of your Apple Watch using your iPhone and vice-versa.

And the iPhone 11 may have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. The rumor about USB-C surfaced following the release of iOS 13 beta:

I would take the rumor about Apple switching to USB-C with a grain of salt so don’t get rid of your extra Lightning cables yet.

The main iPhone 11 device may be bumped up to a capacity that is 20-25% better than the 2,658 mAh capacity in the iPhone XS as reported by Ming-Chi Kuo. And the battery capacity of the iPhone 11 Max may be bumped up 10-15% than the 3,174 mAh battery in the iPhone XS Max.

Rumor has it that the iPhone 11R could have a stunning 3,110 mAh capacity. This would mean that the iPhone 11R would have the largest single battery in an iPhone than ever before.

iPhone 11 Colors

There is another rumor that the iPhone 11R (iPhone XR2) is expected to be available in black, white, yellow, and red. And it may be available in lavender and green as well. The coral and blue colors may no longer be available.

iPhone 11 Release Date

The iPhone 11 is expected to be released in the third or fourth of September 2019 following an Apple event according to a leaked Verizon timeline.

iPhone 11 Network Specifications

The iPhone 11 will likely have the same network specification as the iPhone XS. This means that the iPhone 11 would not support the 5G.

And the iPhone 11 is also expected to have the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard.

iPhone 11 Face ID Upgrade

The Face ID facial recognition system is expected to be upgraded in the iPhone 11. Specifically, it would support the ability to scan faces at wider angles. This would also drastically improve the Portrait Mode capabilities on the front-facing camera.

Apple Pencil Support?

Rumor has it that the iPhone 11 may support Apple Pencil input. But there have been rumors about new iPhones gaining Apple Pencil support ever since the Apple Pencil stylus was released in 2015.

iPhone 11 IP Rating

There’s a rumor that Apple is experimenting with technology that would allow you to use the new iPhone underwater. Apple has also filed patents for improving underwater photography.

iPhone 11 Price

How much will the iPhone 11 cost? It will likely have the same price points as the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone Xr.

The iPhone 11 camera is also reportedly going to have features that rival the Night Sight feature in the Google Pixel line of devices. Specifically, XDA writer and TV host Max Weinbach said that the iPhone 11 devices are expected to have a dedicated night mode. The night mode would be able to switch on and off automatically using scene detection.
