Keychain: This Company Plans To Help Brands Find The Right Manufacturing Partners

By Amit Chowdhry • Feb 13, 2024

Keychain is a platform for CPG manufacturing that works with brands and retailers to bring clarity and convenience to the process of creating products. Starting with a network of over 10,000 manufacturers, Keychain’s proprietary and AI-powered platform helps brands quickly find the perfect manufacturing partners. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Keychain co-founder and CEO Oisin Hanrahan to learn more about the company.

Oisin Hanrahan’s Background

Hanrahan was most recently the CEO of Angi (formerly Angie’s List), which is a publicly-traded company that operates the largest home services marketplace in the world. And Hanrahan said:

“Before that, I was the CEO and co-founder of Handy, which we sold to Angi in 2018. I started that out of Harvard Business School in 2011 with my cofounder Umang.”

How did the idea for Keychain come together? Hanrahan shared:

“My co-founder Umang and I spent a decade building and running a platform for home services and working closely with retailers. And we saw how powerful marketplace dynamics can be for fragmented industries. After a lot of research and talking to some of the companies that we worked with at Angi, we realized that there was this need for a true platform that connects brands, retailers, and manufacturers.”

“And that’s exactly what we’re building at Keychain: This really incredible tool that helps retailers cut out the weeks they spend going through brokers, or visiting trade shows, or calling around their networks to find the right manufacturing partners. Soon they’ll be able to go on Keychain and identify the right partners easily.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Hanrahan explained:

“We’re excited to announce more when we launch our product in a few weeks, but we’re developing a manufacturing platform for the packaged goods industry. If you ask any CPG brand, ‘What is the hardest part about running your business?’ they’ll tell you that it’s finding the right manufacturing partners–the companies who can help them actually produce and package the products we find on store shelves.”

“Today, this massive industry operates completely offline, and it’s dominated by time-intensive vetting at trade shows and via brokers. At Keychain, our platform matches thousands of manufacturers on one side with brands and retailers on the other side.”
