Latham & Watkins Brings In New Partners To London, Boston, And Frankfurt

Global law firm Latham & Watkins LLP revealed that it has added new partners to its offices in London, Boston, and Frankfurt. These are the details.

London

Latham & Watkins LLP announced that Jonathan Brownson, Joydeep Choudhuri, and Prue Criddle have joined the firm’s London office as partners in the Banking Practice. This group of partners is regarded in the market for their extensive experience advising investment banks, private credit funds, and other capital providers on a variety of complex domestic and cross-border transactions, particularly in leveraged and acquisition financings.

Working with a broad range of clients at the practice, Brownson, Choudhuri, and Criddle have advised on some of the most significant event-driven financings in the European market in recent years. And their practice spans the full spectrum of finance transactions, including syndicated lending, recapitalizations, bridge lending and loan commitments, and other secured and unsecured lending matters.

Brownson, Choudhuri, and Criddle are the latest prominent partners for joining Latham’s market-leading Banking Practice in London, following the arrival of private credit partners Fergus Wheeler and Paul Yin. And the firm also recently promoted London banking associates Hayden Teo and Tracy Liu to the partnership. And Latham advised on the three largest public-to-private transactions and the three largest private credit transactions in 2023.

Brownson, Choudhuri, and Criddle join Latham & Watkins from Cahill Gordon & Reindel. Brownson received his LLB from the University of Leeds; Choudhuri received his LLB from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences; and Criddle received her LLB from the University of Western Australia.

Frankfurt

Latham & Watkins announced that Deniz Tschammler will join the firm’s Frankfurt office as a partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. And Tschammler advises pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, investors, and digital health providers on a variety of complex regulatory, transactional, and sector-specific compliance matters.

Tschammler regularly counsels domestic and international clients on the regulatory implications of transactions and collaborations, market entry and access, digitization strategies, and disputes with competitors and authorities. And he also advises on industry-specific compliance and governance matters.

Tschammler will join Latham & Watkins from McDermott Will & Emery. And he completed his undergraduate degree in Law at the University of Frankfurt, before receiving a PhD in pharmaceutical law from the University of Marburg and an LLM from Kings College, London. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of St Gallen.

Boston

Latham & Watkins announced that Matthew Cohn has joined the firm’s Boston office as a partner in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice. And Cohn represents large and middle market private equity funds, growth funds, and public and private companies in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments, and structured equity and debt financings.

Cohn brings extensive experience advising on deals across industries, including technology, healthcare, financial services, insurance, business services, retail and consumer products, energy, manufacturing, and entertainment, sports, and media.

Cohn joins Latham from Kirkland & Ellis in Boston. And he received his JD from Villanova University School of Law and his BA from Syracuse University.

Cohn is the third M&A and private equity partner to join Latham’s east coast offices in the last year. And the firm announced in September 2023 the arrivals of Brian Mangino and Amber Banks in Washington, D.C. and New York, respectively.
