R. Martin Chavez (known as Marty) — the global co-head securities and a partner at Goldman Sachs — is retiring after working at the firm for a total of 19 years. Chavez also served as a chief financial officer at Goldman Sachs and used to be the highest-ranking technology executive at the company, according to Business Insider.

Going forward, Chavez is being succeeded by Marc Nachmann — who is the co-head of the Investment Banking Division (IBD). Nachmann has been at Goldman for 25 years and was the co-head of the investment banking division since 2017.

“Marc will bring his experience in investment banking, including as head of the global financing group, as we execute our strategy to grow our securities franchise with more of our corporate clients and expand our financing capabilities more broadly,” wrote Goldman Sachs Chairman & CEO David M. Solomon, President and COO  John Waldron, and CFO Stephen Scherr in a statement.

Chavez had become CFO in 2017 for 18 months before his role shifted to the securities division where he worked closely with co-heads Ashok Varadhan and Jim Esposito. And Chavez is also credited for overseeing a project to automate trading workflow called Marquee.

Chavez had originally joined Goldman in the J. Aron. His experiences also include working as a director at Credit Suisse and serving as the CEO of Kiodex from 2000-2004. Plus Chavez also serves as a board member at the Stanford University School of Medicine, the LA Philharmonic, the Harvard Board of Overseers.
