Fourth Power recently announced that it received $19 million in Series A funding to scale its cost-effective groundbreaking thermal battery technology. This investment round was led by the venture capital firm DCVC, with participation from Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) and Black Venture Capital Consortium. Along with helping scale the company’s thermal energy storage solution - which can store energy for both short- and long-term durations to be put back on the grid as electricity, the investment will initiate the construction of a 1 MWh-e prototype facility outside Boston, with a 2026 anticipated completion date.

Essential AI recently announced it has raised a $56.5 million Series A funding round led by March Capital including participation from AMD, Franklin Venture Partners, Google, KB Investment, NVIDIA, and Thrive Capital. The company previously raised an $8.3 million seed funding round led by Thrive Capital, with participation from investors Amjad Masad, Brad Gerstner, Conviction, Elad Gil, Francis D'Souza, David H. Patraeus, Gustavo Sapoznik, Jamie Montgomery, and Mei Zuo for a total of nearly $65 million in funding to date.

KOHO Financial - a leading Canadian fintech company – recently announced it successfully raised an additional $86 million in a series D extension at an $800 million valuation. The new and existing KOHO investors provided the capital, including Drive Capital, Eldridge Industries, HOOPP, Portage, Round13, BDC, and TTV.

Falfurrias Management Partners, LP (FMP) recently announced it has closed its latest, oversubscribed lower middle-market private equity fund Falfurrias Growth Partners I (FGP) at $400 million in investor commitments. FGP is the firm's first dedicated growth buyout fund. And FMP manages its larger $850 million fund Falfurrias Capital Partners V and has raised over $2.2 billion of capital since being founded.

Amide Technologies - a biotech synthesizing challenging peptides - recently announced that it has begun commercializing its novel peptide manufacturing platform. And the company also announced it has raised $16.5 million in total funding to date, which includes a $7.5 million Series A Extension investment closed in July 2023 led by Engine Ventures with participation from Forcefield Venture Fund. The previous rounds included a $3.55 million Series A, also led by Engine Ventures, and a $5.45 million Seed Round led by Biological Engineering Ventures.

Totus Medicines - a company transforming small molecule drug discovery and development using covalent libraries and AI tools - recently announced that Nassim Usman, Ph.D., has been named President & Chief Executive Officer and closed a $66 million Series B financing led by DCVC Bio. And Neil Dhawan, Ph.D, Totus co-founder, founding CEO, and CSO, will transition into a new role as CSO and Head of R&D, where he will continue to oversee the company's platform, programs, and data.
