  • Microsoft recently announced that it is acquiring Mover. These are the details about the deal.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Office 365 Jeff Teper recently announced the acquisition of Mover, which is a leading provider of cloud file migration. This acquisition will simplify and speed the file migration to Microsoft 365.

“Our goal is to help customers move to the cloud with confidence. Today, we offer several options to support cloud file migrations, including FastTrack and offerings from trusted Microsoft partners, as well as the SharePoint Migration Tool for migrating content from on-premises SharePoint sites and file shares to Microsoft 365,” said Teper in a blog post. “Mover will enhance these offerings with proven tools, plus more self-service options over time.”

Currently, Mover supports migration from more than a dozen cloud service providers such as Box, Dropbox, Egnyte, and Google Drive into OneDrive and SharePoint. This enables seamless file collaboration across Microsoft 365 apps and services, including the Office apps and Microsoft Teams.

Mover’s team also has deep expertise and migration technology — which advances Microsoft’s commitment to providing organizations of all sizes with the right tools, people, and partners for successfully migrating to the Microsoft Cloud. And with Mover, Microsoft plans to continue to provide customers with fast and reliable migrations to the cloud with best practices and security and more connectors to more source systems thus making the move into Microsoft 365 as seamless and cost-effective as possible.

“Moving forward, we’ll bring our deep expertise and migration technology to serve Microsoft customers. This acquisition will ensure that customers making the move to Microsoft 365 have a seamless and cost-effective experience,” wrote Mover co-founder and CEO Eric Warnke in a company blog post. “It has been a fantastic journey these last eight years. We have met thousands of wonderful customers and moved more data than I ever imagined. It has been an honor to be trusted by you and your fellow customers.”
